Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution supporting an application for State grant funds through the CAL FIRE Urban <br />Forestry Program to provide additional parkway trees. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California CAL FIRE Agency has allocated grant funds to local, State, and federal <br />governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations to plant trees. A concept proposal requesting <br />$75,000 in grant funds was submitted to the State on September 30, 2010. The concept proposal <br />was ranked high enough to be authorized to provide a final proposal. <br />The resolution authorizes the City to utilize the grant funds, if awarded, for new parkway tree <br />plantings in the Washington Square, Santa Ana Memorial Park, and Delhi neighborhoods. A <br />resolution supporting the application is required for approval. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act the proposed project is exempt from <br />CEQA review per Section 15304, Class 4 exemption as it consists of minor public or private alteration <br />in the conditions of land and water.
