Mr. Adams <br />indicated that the Workshop was specifically designed for th new Planning Commissioners and <br />City Council members. However, staff always invited a d encouraged all Commissions to <br />attend. So if enough Planning Commissioners were able to attend, the date would remain the <br />same. <br />Commissioner Brenes thanked staff for the Christmas party and informed staff that he had been <br />asked to speak at a conference and welcomed any staff members or commissioners to attend and <br />' assist in the presentation. <br />Commissioner Berry asked when the election of officers would take place. Mr. Adams stated <br />that it would be agendized for the next meeting. <br />Commissioner Marsh informed staff that she believed it w s important to establish the forms <br />and applications for property owners who would like to re uest to be placed on the historical <br />register and requested that the forms be brought before the ommission at the next meeting. In <br />addition, Commissioner Marsh informed the Commission th'~t an application for nomination <br />for the historic French Park District to the national register of historic places would be <br />heard before the State Historic Resources Commission ion February 5, 1999 at the San <br />Juan Capistrano City Hall. The public meeting was opened to everyone. <br />Commissioner Marsh invited the members of the Historic Resources Commission to <br />attend and informational meeting on 7anuary 2Q 1999 at Bartlett Center in Santa Ana. <br />A presentation regarding the national register program would be made by Marilyn <br />Laurdy, Architectural Historian. The French Park his ,district which contains some of <br />Orange County's finest architecture, including 132 contributing buildings and 32 <br />noncontributing buildings. <br />Commissioner Simons welcomed Commissioner Garmer an informed staff that he would like <br />to meet in the Council Chambers for the Historic Resourc s Commission meetings from this <br />point forwazd. Ms Uptegraff responded that the meetings w re set up to replicate the format of <br />' the Planning Commission meetings. However, she stated that there were more Historic <br />Commission members than Planning Commissioners and R om 147 did not accommodate the <br />Historic Commission comfortably and that staff would prepage the Council Chambers for future <br />meetings. <br />Commissioner Kings stated that she would be interested in $valuating historic standards on an <br />area wide or district bases. <br />Commissioner Gartner stated that he was interested in the <br />the Commission to also focus on the properties from the 19 <br />eum District and he would like <br />and above. <br />2 <br />
