EXEMPT FROM FEES PURSUANT <br />TO GOVERNMENT CODE § 6103 <br />• <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009-01 <br />TJ -12/24/08 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2008-40 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY' LOCATED AT <br />301-307 NORTH SPURGEON STREET, SANTA ANA ON <br />THE HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING <br />HISTORIC REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2008-40 <br />PLACING SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE LANDMARK <br />CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />• A. On January 8, 2009, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly <br />noticed public hearing for the placement an the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties (Historic Resources .Commission Application No. <br />2008-40) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission <br />Categorization No. 2008-40) of the Yost Theater, located at 307-307 North <br />Spurgeon Street, Santa Ana, California. <br />B. The Yost Theater, which was constructed i~ 1912, is a Classical Revival <br />styled theater and former hotel <br />C. This building qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties and is eligible for categorization as Landmark because it has <br />"unique architectural significance," as it exemplifies distinguishing <br />characteristics of the Classic Revival style, and is of "historical/cultural <br />significance to the City" as the oldest and longest running theater in the <br />City. <br />D. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, <br />which further substantiates its categorization as a Landmark property. <br />E. Character defining features of this structure include original windows <br />(where extant), pediments, large marquee, and box office central in the <br />facade. <br />F.
