• TJ 9/25/08 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008-31 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 625 NORTH FRENCH STREET <br />(HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2008-02) <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The applicant is requesting approval of Historic Exterior Modification <br />Application No. 2008-02 for a new electrical service to replace the old <br />service at the same exterior location of the property located at 625 North <br />French Street, Santa Ana. <br />B. This structure, which was built in 1924, is historically known as the Ebell <br />• Club and was placed on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties in <br />2001 and categorized as Landmark. <br />C. The proposed project involves the installation of a new electrical meter <br />box on the exterior of the structure, replacing the meter box currently <br />located on the interior of the building, to meet the current electrical code. <br />It is proposed that the new meter box will be camouflaged by a stucco- <br />covered surround painted to match the existing structure. <br />D. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code section 30-6, the Historic <br />Resources Commission reviewed the application for approval of exterior <br />modifications for the historic Ebell Club (Historic Exterior Modification <br />Application No. 2008-02). <br />E. Since the property is listed on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties, all exterior modifications are required to meet the Secretary of <br />the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. This project meets these <br />standards; specifically, it meets standards Two, Nine and Ten. <br />1. The project meets these standards in that the historic character is <br />retained and preserved, and there will be no removal of distinctive <br />materials, thereby meeting Standard Number Two. <br />2. The proposed exterior alteration will not destroy historic materials, <br />distinctive features, and does not alter massing, thereby meeting <br />• Standard Number Nine <br />Resolution No. 2008-31 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
