ATTACHMENT A <br />Goals of the project: <br />1) To increase community awareness and education in crime prevention through the <br />implementation of both a neighborhood and business watch program in the City of Stanton. <br />2) Increase interaction between law enforcement and the community during City events <br />and activities, through use of overtime, in effort to build a better partnership to help reduce <br />crime. <br />3) Continue to support a Stanton Police Services Bicycle Patrol Team which will participate <br />in community events and afford deputies the opportunity to gain legitimacy in the eyes of <br />the public by interacting with the community in a positive environment away from calls for <br />service. <br />Strategies to be used for project: <br />• Assist residents in creating neighborhood watch groups in effort to reduce crime. <br />• Provide materials and continued support of neighborhood watch groups through <br />participation in meetings and events/activities. <br />• Collaborate with the Stanton Business Alliance to create a business watch program <br />in the City of Stanton and attend monthly meetings with the business community. <br />• Provide materials and continued support of Stanton Business/Neighborhood Watch. <br />• Utilize JAG funding to cover overtime costs for neighborhood and business watch <br />meetings and activities. <br />• Purchase and maintain patrol bicycles and all related equipment and items <br />necessary for the continued implementation of the Stanton Bicycle Patrol Team. <br />• Utilize JAG funding to cover overtime costs for Bike Team members to participate in <br />City activities and events. <br />Budget Narrative: Include breakdown for Personnel, travel, equipment, supplies, <br />consultants/contracts, other costs, etc. <br />75% of allocated funds are to be used for Personnel Overtime in achieving the program <br />goals. <br />20 % of allocated funds are to be used for purchase and maintenance of equipment for the <br />Stanton Bicycle Patrol Team. <br />5% of the allocated funds are to be used for Neighborhood/Business Watch program <br />literature. <br />2010- DJ-BX-0324 Page 29 of 34
