Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with Certified Transportation Services, Inc. for charter bus service in an amount <br />not to exceed $100,600. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Parks, Recreations and Community Services Agency utilizes charter bus services for youth <br />excursions, Zoo Camps excursions, and OCTA Senior Mobility Program transportation needs. <br />Additionally, the Police Athletic and Activities League (PAAL) under the California Gang Reduction, <br />Intervention and Prevention Program (CAL-GRIP) grant uses charter bus services for weekly <br />excursions including their 8-week summer program. <br />On August 1, 2008, the City Council awarded a contract to 2 vendors at $30,000 each for a one-year <br />period with provision for four, one-year renewals. Over the past contract period, one of the vendors <br />has continuously underperformed and their services were cancelled, moving the entire charter bus <br />service schedule to Certified Transportation Services. The projected annual expense for Certified <br />Transportation through the end of the current fiscal year is $45,600 and $55,000 for next fiscal year, <br />for a total two-year contract amount of $100,600. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the <br />past contract period and has agreed to renew the contracts without an increase in pricing. <br />22A-1
