Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with Bound Tree Medical for paramedic supplies for the Fire Department and <br />gloves for the Police Department; for a one-year period in an annual amount not to exceed <br />$217,200. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Fire Department's Paramedic Division provides emergency paramedic services throughout <br />the City of Santa Ana. Currently, eight paramedic units are in service on a daily basis and utilize <br />supplies such as general first aid, IV solutions, OB delivery kits, bandages, needles, splints, <br />medical tapes, gauze, burn packs, ice packs, breathing treatment supplies etc. Engine crews <br />also carry general first aid supplies for limited treatments in the field. Paramedic supplies are <br />purchased for such needs, and patients are billed when services are rendered. In addition to <br />paramedic supplies, the Police Department's Jail Facility and Forensics Lab will order latex <br />gloves for use during daily operations. <br />On April 7, 2008, the City Council awarded a contract to Bound Tree Medical for a three-year <br />period with provision for two one-year renewals. Bound Tree Medical has performed satisfactorily <br />during the past contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in <br />pricing. Staff recommends the first renewal of the contract. <br />22A-1
