Reporter on May 20 and 27, 2011. <br /> <br /> Staff report presentation by Public Works Executive Director Raul <br /> Godinez, II. <br /> <br /> Background <br /> • The City's metered water rate and sewer service charge are adjusted <br /> annually as part of the overall City budget process. <br /> • This year's proposed increased rates will enhance the City's Capital <br /> Improvement Program (CIP) to ensure adequate and reliable water <br /> and sewer systems. <br /> <br /> Proposed Rate Increases <br /> • This year, a modest 2% rate increase is proposed for the water and <br /> sewer rates. <br /> • The water rate has two tiers, and is based on 100 cubic feet (CCF): <br /> o The Base Rate applies to consumption up to 44 CCF during a <br /> bi-monthly billing period. <br /> o The Tail Block Rate is charged for all water consumed above <br /> the Base Rate allocation. <br /> o The Typical single-family residential customer consumes 40 <br /> CCF during the bi-monthly billing period. <br /> • The Sewer Service Charge is a flat charge based on metered water <br /> consumption at a premise. <br /> • The Water Base Rate is proposed to increase from $2.673 to $2.727 <br /> per CCF <br /> • The Water Tail Block Rate is proposed to increase from $3.097 to <br /> $3.154 per CCF <br /> • The Sewer Service Charge is proposed to increase from $0.338 to <br /> $0.345 per CCF <br /> • The Water Base Rate increase of 0.0537 per CCF will add an <br /> estimated $1.07 monthly to the typical single-family residential water <br /> bill, based on 20 CCF of water usage. <br /> • The typical monthly sewer bill will increase by an estimated $0.14, <br /> based on the same 20 CCF of water usage. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 4 JUNE 6, 2011 <br /> 1 0A-4 <br />
