Understanding of the Project <br />Technical Understanding <br />The First Street Bridge Replacement Project over <br />the Santa Ana River will include the removal and <br />replacement of the two existing structures (north and <br />south structures). It is crucial to maintain one through- <br />lane in each direction during the construction of the First <br />Street Bridge. -The project is to be completed in three <br />stages, including the demolition of the north structure. <br />The construction management team forthis work shall <br />provide a resident engineer/construction manager <br />and all support staff, which shall include office <br />management and labor compliance, project control <br />and scheduling analysis, structures inspection, water <br />line relocation inspection, and roadway construction <br />inspection, including irrigation and planting. <br />Stage 7 Construction <br />Stage 1 construction shall include the following <br />construction activities: <br />• Redirect all traffic onto the existing south <br />structure, one lane in each direction <br />• Remove existing signs and post at First Street <br />• Remove existing conflicting striping <br />• Install temporary K-rail per Caltrans standards <br />• Install new signs per plan <br />• Install temporary striping per plan <br />• Start street improvements on the north side <br />• Demolish the existing north structure, <br />including superstructure and substructure. <br />Existing piles shall be cut off one foot below <br />the channel invert. <br />• Construct the new structure (foundation <br />work shall take place during the dry season, <br />April 30 to October 1) <br />• Construct the retaining wall at the <br />northeast quadrant <br />;i <br />OEVELOPEO ELEVATION <br />First Street Elevation <br /> <br />First Street Stage 1 Bridge Construction Cross Section <br />h11LL City of Santa Ana I Public Works Agency Page 14 <br />First Street Bridge Replacement I Construction Management <br />First Street Typical Section Diagram
