Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute <br />an agreement for government liaison services with the Ferguson Group for a six month period in an <br />amount not to exceed $37,500. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Ferguson Group has served as the City's representative in Washington, D.C. since 1987. The <br />service includes the review and monitoring of federal executive proposals and legislation, as well as <br />administrative rules and regulations that may affect the City. The Ferguson Group also assists the City <br />in identifying funding opportunities and grant applications and other special programs for which the City <br />may qualify. <br />In the current fiscal year, the Ferguson Group assisted in advocating for the City's Go Local Transit <br />Project, COPS grants, water well rehabilitation projects, and CDBG and Workforce Development <br />monies. This past year the Ferguson Group was also instrumental in tracking energy grant, healthy city <br />initiatives, TIGER II monies for transportation and any remaining federal stimulus dollars. <br />25L-1
