NO, 1 -1, 019) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on I" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to G &K Services, Inc. for uniform, mat and towel service for a three -year period <br />with provision for one three -year renewal, in an annual amount not to exceed $43,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In accordance with the City's general employee Memorandum of Understanding, clean uniforms <br />are provided to all employees who are required by the City to wear uniforms. Rented floor mats <br />are provided at various locations, bath towels supplied in shower areas and dish towels at all fire <br />stations. The rental service includes weekly laundering of uniforms, towels and dishtowels. <br />The notice inviting proposals was advertised on April 8, 2011, and proposals were solicited. A <br />summary of the Request for Proposals and proposals received is as follows: <br />6 Request for Proposals mailed <br />1 Request for Proposals mailed to Santa Ana vendor <br />4 Proposals received <br />Proposals were solicited and opened on April 28, 2011 and evaluated. Nine key points were <br />reviewed covering samples of shirts and pants provided for review, references, compliance or <br />deviation from specification, cost and explanation of garment tracking process. The offer from <br />G &K Services, Inc. is responsive to the specification and meets the City's requirements. To <br />allow for unanticipated charges, an additional five percent contingency has been included in the <br />award amount. <br />22B -1 <br />
