NO. 09-004) <br />CITY WANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1s' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with ISCO Industries, LLC for HDPE fusible pipe for a one -year period in an <br />annual amount not to exceed $35,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division maintains a sanitary sewer system consisting <br />of approximately 390 miles of pipelines and 8,500 manholes with approximately 45,000 sewer <br />laterals in the sewer system. In 2001, a Sewer Service Fee was established to create a Sewer <br />Lateral Replacement Program. The program allows City maintenance crews to replace deteriorated <br />private sanitary sewer laterals that are within the public right of way with City owned main sewer <br />lines. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) fusible pipe is used to replace deteriorated sewer laterals <br />to prevents future root intrusions, the primary reason for sewer lateral replacement <br />On April 1, 2009, the City Council awarded a contract to ISCO Industries, LLC for a one -year period, <br />with provisions for four one -year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past <br />contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing.
