Placement in Jobs or Continuing Education: Taller San Jose has a strong program <br />linking participants to employment through job preparation workshops, participation in <br />job fairs, resume preparation, referrals and job coaching. The Job Developer works full <br />time as a liaison among employers, students and community resources such as the One - <br />Stop Center to ensure that program graduates locate employment within 90 days of <br />graduation from Taller San Jose. Participants are taught job search techniques <br />throughout their training and are required to submit a minimum of 10 resumes per week <br />during the last month of training. All students participate in mock interview sessions <br />with local Human Resource professionals. A network of local employers provides <br />employment opportunities to graduates upon their completion of training at Taller San <br />Jose. <br />In addition, Taller San Jose participants who have not completed their secondary <br />education are encouraged to co -enroll in a high school diploma program offered in the <br />evenings and on Friday and Saturday. These diploma and certification programs are <br />sponsored through the local community college, Santa Ana College Office of Continuing <br />Education. Taller San Jose staff work with Continuing Education staff to monitor <br />participant progress and meet educational goals as appropriate. <br />6. Follow-up: Taller San Jose provides 24 months of follow-up services including <br />mentoring, job coaching, supplemental training and support services to 100% of its <br />graduates. Follow-up services provide a stable foundation for students to build on as they <br />transition from unemployment into the workforce and include: <br />a. Providing job placement and referrals to youth who achieve certification in job - <br />training coursework. <br />b. Assisting student apprentices to maintain employment through ongoing job <br />coaching, mentoring, and support services. <br />c. Working as a liaison between employers and graduates for a minimum of 90 days <br />after placement. <br />All follow-up services are provided to graduates for 24 -months after their completion ofjob- <br />training activities. Staff mentors provide weekly support through the first 90 days after <br />placement. As graduates acclimate to the workplace, meetings occur on a bi-weekly or <br />monthly basis. <br />Each of Taller San Jose's training programs is designed to place students in high -demand <br />industries that offer career ladders for growth. Taller's Medical Careers Academy, for <br />example, trains clinical and administrative medical assistants to enter the allied health field, <br />where the demand for allied health workers in California is expected to grow 63% between <br />2010 and 2030 and 39% by 2016 in Orange County. Researchers estimate that California's <br />universities and community colleges will only have the capacity to train 634,000 of the <br />needed workers—between 63 and 79% of the allied health workers the state requires (Help <br />Wanted: Will Californians Miss Out on a Billion Dollar Growth Industry?
