REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 24, 2011 <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />TITLE: APPROVED <br />AGREEMENT WITH STREET LIGHT ❑ As Recommended <br />RESTORATION SPECIALISTS, INC. ❑ As Amended s� <br />El on � Reading <br />FOR STREET LIGHT POLE <br />❑ Ordinance on 2 "d Reading <br />REPAINTING ❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached agreement with <br />Street Light Restoration Specialists, Inc. to repaint 210 thirty -foot street light poles and luminaire <br />arms on Main Street for an amount not to exceed $36,000, subject to nonsubstantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney (Exhibit 1). <br />DISCUSSION <br />There are 210 older City -owned steel street light poles on Main Street between Warner and the <br />north city limits which require periodic repainting to maintain the integrity of the steel as well as the <br />aesthetic appeal. These poles were last painted in the early 1990s and the paint is chipped, <br />peeling, and extremely weathered (Exhibit 2). <br />On May 26, 2011 Requests for Proposals were mailed to 18 commercial painting companies, 13 <br />of which are Santa Ana businesses. <br />18 Requests for Proposals mailed <br />13 Requests for Proposals mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />3 Proposals received <br />0 Proposals received from Santa Ana vendors <br />A total of 3 proposals were received on June 23, 2011. The proposals were evaluated by a panel <br />comprised of representatives from the Public Works Agency using the following criteria: <br />organizational credentials, experience, work plan, and pricing.
