REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 7, 2011 <br />TITLE: <br />PUBLIC HEARING — ZONING ORDINANCE <br />AMENDMENT NO. 2011 -01 TO CREATE A <br />HOUSING OPPORTUNITY ORDINANCE <br />• j <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2 n Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt an ordinance approving Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 2011 -01. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br />On September 26, 2011, the Planning Commission recommended that the City Council adopt an <br />ordinance approving Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 2011 -01 by a vote of 7:0 to amend the <br />zoning code to create a Housing Opportunity Ordinance to ensure future residential development <br />projects contribute to the attainment of the affordable housing goals set forth in the Housing <br />Element of the City's General Plan. The Planning Commission made no changes to the <br />modifications outlined in the attached staff report (Exhibit A). With its recommendation of <br />approval, the Planning Commission directed staff to provide the Council with copies of the <br />sample fee calculation worksheets (Exhibit B). These sample worksheets were provided by the <br />city consultant utilizing existing residential developments within the city. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />J y .
