.Application to HUD for <br />Additional Housing Vouchers <br />June 7, 1999 <br />Page 2 <br />Authority may be awarded the 20 additional Section 8 vouchers based on a <br />national competition and on verification of demonstrated need for such <br />assistance. After approval, the vouchers wall be available to assist <br />additional law-income families with their rent under the Family <br />Unification Program. <br />The Family Unification Program helps to prevent the unnecessary <br />separation of children from their families due to lack of adequate <br />housing. Section 8 rental assistance wall be provided to families who <br />meet the eligibility criteria and whose children are at risk of placement <br />in out-of-home care, or are being delayed in returning from care because <br />of homelessness or severe housing problems. <br />~f the application is not submitted, the Caty of Santa Ana Housing <br />Authority will not have an opportunity to receive the additional housing <br />vouchers and will not be able to expand the City's housing vouchers <br />available for the Family Unification Program. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />By submitting this application, the Santa Ana Housing Authority wi7.l be <br />eligible to receive additional funds in the account for the Housing <br />Voucher Program (account no. 140-01--5350} In addition to program fund <br />dollars, the Housing Authority will receive funds to cover administrative <br />costs. <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br /> <br />Cynthia J.
