C. On or after the first (1 s`) day of the month following completion of six (6) months <br />of continuous Part Time Civil Service, an employee may be allowed to take all, or <br />a proportionate fraction of, his or her earned vacation, subject to scheduling <br />approval of the employee's supervisor. <br />D. Limit: The maximum total accumulation of vacation leave with pay shall be two <br />hundred (200) hours. Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as <br />one-half (''/z) hour with fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher <br />multiple of one-half ('/2). <br />E. Computation of Regular Vacation. <br />1. Should an employee be confined to a hospital for sickness or injury while <br />on authorized vacation, each full day of such confinement, when <br />confirmed by a physician's statement and approval of the Department <br />Head, may be deducted from the computation of vacation expended and <br />charged against the employee's accumulated sick leave. <br />2. No employee shall have the right to accumulate or split his or her <br />vacation, but the same may be allowed or required by the Department <br />Head. The time at which an employee shall take his or her vacation shall <br />be determined by the Department Head, with due regard for the wishes of <br />the employee and particular regard for operational needs. <br />9.3 Excess Usaee. If vacation time off is used in excess of that available, such excess <br />vacation time off will, first, be deducted from any available compensatory time off <br />accrual; finally, deducted from the next scheduled salary payment. <br />9.4 Effect of Extended Sick Leave on Vacation Accrual. Absence on sick leave for a period <br />in excess of fifteen (15) consecutive calendar days shall not be considered as service time <br />for regular vacation accrual purposes. <br />ARTICLE X <br />1 O.O OTHER LEAVES OF ABSENCE <br />1 O.1 Sick Leave. <br />A. Definition. Except as otherwise provided below, sick leave shall be deemed to <br />mean absence from duty of an employee because of illness, injury, medical, or <br />dental appointment that prevents the employee from performing the duties of his <br />or her position, and shall be deemed to include time in quarantine resulting from <br />exposure to a contagious disease. <br />B. Administration. Effective July 1, 2005, the City and Union agree to increase each <br />Part Time Civil Service employee's annual sick leave accrual from 30 hours to 72 <br />hours. In order to effectuate this increase for the 2005-06 fiscal year, effective <br />with the paycheck of June 20, 2006, each Part Time Civil Service employee shall <br />22
