In the event the existing irrigation system fails to provide full <br /> and proper coverage, the Contractor shall provide alternate irrigation with <br /> full and proper coverage to all areas in the work site at no extra cost to the <br /> City. <br /> (2) Newly planted trees, shrubs, ground cover and turf shall receive adequate <br /> water to promote normal healthy growth. Proper berms or basins shall be <br /> maintained during plant establishment period. <br /> <br /> b) Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br /> <br /> Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required, the <br /> Contractor shall: <br /> <br /> (1) Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Parks, Recreation and <br /> Community Services Agency for access and operation of the controller. <br /> <br /> (2) Surrender all keys furnished by the Parks, Recreation and Community <br /> Services Agency at the end of the contract period or at any time deemed <br /> necessary by the Director to prevent serious loss to the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> (3) Protect the security of City property by keeping controller cabinet and <br /> building doors locked at all times. <br /> <br /> (4) Refrain from using locked premises for storage of materials, supplies or <br /> tools, except as approved by the Director. <br /> <br /> (5) Program normal irrigation between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. <br /> unless alternative hours are approved by City. <br /> <br /> c) Water Conservation <br /> <br /> (1) The Contractors Certified Irrigation Specialist shall meet once a month <br /> with Park Services to review the City's Monthly Water Conservation <br /> Report to discuss water conservation strategies. These discussions may <br /> include, but not be limited to, the Contractor turning off irrigation systems <br /> during periods of rainfall and times when suspension of irrigation is <br /> desirable to conserve water while remaining within the guidelines of the <br /> EAW. <br /> <br /> (2) When Park Services determines that plant material (turf, groundcover, <br /> shrubs, and trees) must be irrigated, all controllers shall be activated within <br /> twenty-four (24) hours. <br /> <br /> d) Inspection and Reporting <br /> <br /> (1) The Contractor shall physically inspect the operation of all irrigation <br /> systems once a month and prepare a written report specifying park name, <br /> controller location/name, start times, run times, program name, station <br /> 24 <br /> 25H-34 <br />
