Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $800,000 awarded to the City of Santa <br /> Ana, Santa Ana WORK Center by the County of Orange Social Services Agency for <br /> vocational training and work experience activities. <br /> <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached agreement with <br /> the County of Orange Social Services Agency for vocational training and work experience <br /> activities, effective March 7, 2012 through June 30, 2013, subject to non-substantive changes <br /> approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> <br /> The County of Orange Social Services Agency administers a CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) <br /> Program designed to provide case management, job services, job training, and supportive service <br /> to assist CalWORKs recipients to overcome barriers and obtain or maintain stable employment. <br /> The goal of the program is for the participating individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency. <br /> County Welfare Departments may provide these services directly or may enter into contracts with <br /> private or public agencies for the provision of these services. <br /> <br /> The City of Santa Ana WORK Center has experience providing such services and was awarded <br /> an $800,000 contract to provide vocational training and work experience activities to CalWorks <br /> WTW participants. Staff will also provide case management, employability skills training, worksite <br /> development, and job placement services. The program will serve 26 participants from March 7, <br /> 2012 through June 30, 2012 and 80 participants from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 20B-1 <br />
