Council discussion ensued. Councilmember Tinajero noted efforts to balance each Ward by equal population. Mayor Pro Tem Alvarez commented that re-boundary not done in 2000 because population was within the required 10%; staff to make every effort possible to engage community and educate on the process taken to develop proposed map. Councilmember Sarmiento thanked the Ad Hoc Committee and speakers for comments; proposed re-boundary will balance all wards. Mayor Pulido indicated that the City has Ward elections at-large and not by Ward_ Councilmember Martinez thanked staff for efforts. Councilmember Benavides looks forward to working with new neighborhood associations he will be representing. ?Councilmember Bustamante left the meeting at 7:40 p.m. and did not return.
