REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 21, 2012 <br />TITLE: <br />REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES FOR THE <br />BAT NHA BUDDHIST MEDITATION <br />CENTER <br />QL 0-N <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />0=10600W <br />❑ <br />As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the Planning and Building Agency to send a Request for Proposals to qualified <br />consulting firms to provide environmental services for a new meditation center for the Bat Nha <br />Buddhist Temple at 803 South Sullivan Street. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City is reviewing an application for the construction of a new two - level, 28,000 square foot <br />meditation center for the Bat Nha Buddhist Temple at 803 South Sullivan Street. The facility will <br />replace two small structures that were formerly used as single - family residences. During the <br />review, it was determined that an environmental impact report would likely be required to meet the <br />requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act. As a result, staff has prepared a <br />Request for Proposals for environmental services for this project (Exhibit 1).
