Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to <br />execute an agreement with the Confidential Association of Santa Ana regarding wages and other <br />terms and conditions of employment. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In December, 2011, the City requested that the Confidential Association of Santa Ana (CASA) <br />defer a salary increase scheduled for January 1, 2012 as well as increase its contribution to the <br />pension fund (CaIPERS). CASA has agreed to these requests, as follows: <br />1) Salary Increase: 2% increase scheduled for 1/1/12 has been deferred to such time as <br />negotiations on the successor MOU are completed. <br />2) CalPERS Retirement: Effective January 1, 2012, all members shall contribute an <br />additional .7% of their salary to CalPERS for the cost of the <br />retirement benefit, for a total contribution of 8%. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is a cost savings of $59,100 to the City for deferral of salary increases and increased <br />CalPERS contribution for the remainder of the fiscal year. There are additional ongoing savings <br />of $27,700 for increased CalPERS contributions. <br />Edward S.
