WEST END POLICE SUBSTATION (MCGIJIGAN) <br />Councilmember McGuigan explained she had placed this item on the Agenda in response to <br />numerous concerns expressed by West End residents regarding the pending closure of the West <br />End Police Substation due to centralization of Police operations at the new Police Administration <br />and Holding Facility_ <br />Robert Henson complimented Police Chief Paul Walters on the successful operation of the <br />Substation and presented a petition signed by 1,253 individuals requesting that the Santa Ana <br />West End District Police Substation at 724 W. Harbor Boulevard be kept open. <br />The following persons also spoke in support of retaining the Substation: <br />Dave Lopez <br />Toe Vielma <br />Roy Melcher <br />Bill Boynton <br />Tom Flammang <br />Sean Mill <br />Leah DuPont <br />Margaret Farris <br />Motion: Request the City Manager to prepare a finataciad plan for presentation to the <br />Council on November I8, I996 that would allow the West End Police Substation to <br />remain open. <br />MOTION: McGuigan SECOND: Richardson <br />VOTE: AYES: Espinoza, Lutz, McGuigan, Mills, Moreno, Pulido, <br />Richardson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None FILE CA <br />Councilmember Moreno suggested that all Police substations should remain open and suggested <br />the Police and Fire Departments share facilities at the City's existing fire stations. <br />RECESSED - 7:40 P.M. <br />RECONVENED - 7:50 P.
