Walters commented on City's efforts to balance budget. <br /> <br /> <br /> 90B CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Councilmember Tinajero: <br /> • Commented that boxer Luis Ramos also assaulted at Santa Ana River <br /> Trail, requested that staff coordinate efforts with the County of Orange <br /> to address concerns; <br /> • Encouraged all to attend the Santa Ana Little League Tournament over <br /> the weekend; wished all teams good luck; <br /> • Reflected on budget struggles; City Council has lead in bad times and <br /> has produced balanced budget; and <br /> • Supports arts; commented on some language expressed earlier in the <br /> meeting, during Public Comments. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Benavides: <br /> • Commented on City's presentation on a balanced budget; <br /> • Thanked all speakers for comments on various issues; <br /> • Noted commitment to preserving Downtown, Artist Village, and <br /> Santora Building free of censorship; buyer not required, but willing to <br /> work with the Community; and <br /> • Encouraged all to shop in Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Bustamante: <br /> • Thanked the Finance Department, staff and colleagues for efforts to <br /> balance the budget; fiscal policy upcoming; and <br /> • Supports Artist Village, but noted that sale of Santora Building a private <br /> matter and City has no authority to restrict sale. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Martinez: <br /> • Staff to make Santa Ana River Trail matter a top priority; <br /> • Thanked staff for budgetary efforts; reserve policy has been requested <br /> in the past; City Strategic Plan forthcoming; propose that reserve policy <br /> be presented to bargaining groups; <br /> • Thanked SACReD for efforts to recommend sunshine ordinance; <br /> encouraged all to be engaged; and <br /> • City Council representative of Artist Village area and Santora Building, <br /> noted that movement started before her election to the City Council <br /> and will continue supporting vision; would like to include in City's <br /> Strategic Plan; also opined that Councilmember Benavides does not <br /> have a conflict of interest, assure fairness and open communication. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 20 MAY 21, 2012 <br /> <br /> 1 OA-20 <br />
