<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2012- <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA APPOINTING CITY MANAGER PAUL M. <br /> WALTERS AS POLICE COMMISSIONER. <br /> <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br /> <br /> A. Section 700 of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana provides that the <br /> City Council may establish by ordinance the number, titles, qualifications, <br /> powers, duties, and compensation of all officers and employees of the <br /> City. <br /> <br /> B. With the adoption of the ordinance creating the classification title of Police <br /> Commissioner and designating said classification as that of a Peace <br /> Officer pursuant to Penal Code Section 830.6(a) (2), it is the intent of the <br /> City Council to designate an appointee as Police Commissioner. <br /> <br /> C. The City Officer with the requisite qualifications including a law <br /> enforcement background and experience in upper level municipal and law <br /> enforcement organization management is current City Manager Paul M. <br /> Walters. <br /> <br /> Section 2: The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby appoints City <br /> Manager Paul M. Walters to the classification of Police Commissioner effective June 4, <br /> 2012. <br /> <br /> A. That the appointment of City Manager Paul M. Walters as Police <br /> Commissioner will be served in conjunction therewith and the combined duties <br /> performed therein without additional compensation from that received as an officer of <br /> the City in the classification of City Manager. <br /> <br /> B. That the appointment of City Manager Paul M. Walters as Police <br /> Commissioner shall remain in effect until such time as said appointment is repealed or <br /> City employment is terminated, or until said classification is otherwise eliminated. <br /> <br /> Section 3: This Resolution shall take effect upon the effective date of <br /> Ordinance No. , and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote <br /> adopting this Resolution. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 5OA-20 <br />
