Iss05/14/12 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012-014 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE <br />APPLICATION FOR PROJECT FUNDING UNDER <br />THE MOBILE SOURCE AIR POLLUTION <br />REDUCTION PROGRAM <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. In 1990 the State of California enacted AB2766, authorizing the <br />collection of additional motor vehicle registration fees to implement <br />programs to reduce motor vehicle air pollution; and <br />B. the South Coast Air Quality Management District ("AQMD") has been <br />authorized to manage the AB2766 funds for the Southern California; <br />and <br />C. Thirty percent (30%) of the AB2766 funds is available for on a <br />competitive basis through the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction <br />Program ("MSRC"), to implement and monitor programs to reduce <br />vehicle air pollution; and <br />D. AQMD has issued a call for projects to be funded through MSRC for <br />1) The purchase of "Near Zero Emission" medium and medium- <br />heavy duty vehicles ; and <br />2) The development of alternative fuel infrastructure; and <br />E. The City of Santa Ana will utilize the funding to purchase nine medium <br />and heavy duty alternative fuel vehicles and install five Electric Vehicle <br />charging stations which will be accessible to the public; and <br />F. The MSRC program requires that the City provide matching funds <br />necessary for the completion of approved applications. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana authorizes the <br />submission of applications for Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction funding in <br />Resolution No. 2012-014 <br />Page 1 of 3
