Child molesters and sexual assaulters On average, child molesters were released after serving nearly 3 years (33.7 months) of their nearly 7 -year sentence (81.1 months) (table 4). Statutory rapists were released after serving a little over 2 years of their approximately 4 -year sentence. Upon release, almost half of the child moles- ters still had at least 3 years of their sentence remaining to be served, compared to 15% of statutory rapists. Table 4.
