Child molesters and statutory rapists <br />Of the 4,295 child molesters released <br />from prison in 1994 - <br />• 39.4% (1,693) were rearrested <br />for a crime of any kind (table 42) <br />• 0.4% (17) were rearrested <br />for intentionally or negligently <br />killing someone. <br />Child molesters were less likely to be <br />rearrested for a property crime (10.6 %, <br />456 of 4,295) than a violent crime <br />(14.1 %, 607 of 4,295). <br />Of the 443 statutory rapists released <br />in 1994 - <br />• 49.9% (221) were rearrested <br />for some new crime <br />• 0.7% (3) were rearrested for homicide <br />• 22.6% (100) were rearrested <br />for a property crime <br />• 21.2% (94) were rearrested <br />for a violent crime. <br />Table 42.
