Set Public Hearing For <br />CITY MANAGER <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Adopt a resolution to approve the proposed expenditure plan for the FY 2012/13 Supplemental Law <br />Enforcement Services Fund. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California provides grant funding to State law enforcement agencies through the <br />Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). The grant requires that funding be <br />allocated to counties and cities in accordance with specific requirements for front-line law <br />enforcement services. Front line law enforcement typically includes community oriented policing <br />projects and special law enforcement activities that require use of additional police officers in <br />specially targeted saturation areas. Total funding allocation is based on annual estimated population <br />figures for respective counties and cities. <br />The projected funding amount for FY 2012/13 is estimated at $350,000. In compliance with the <br />requirements of this legislation, the Orange County Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight <br />Committee has requested that all cities obtain City Council approval of their Description of Planned <br />Expenditures for FY 2012/13. The Police Department plans to utilize these funds for special <br />enforcement and gang detail overtime. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action <br />Paul M.
