Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to <br />amend the agreement for government liaison services with Townsend Public Affairs for an annual <br />amount not to exceed $50,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Townsend Public Affairs has served as the City's representative in Sacramento for 12 years. <br />Services in the scope of work include the review and monitoring of state legislation that could affect <br />the City, identifying funding opportunities such as grants and earmarks, and working with state <br />agencies regarding regulations and policies affecting local governments. <br />Townsend Public Affairs represented Santa Ana's interests in Sacramento this past year on issues <br />regarding the protection of local government revenues, the state budget, state enterprise zone <br />program, redevelopment agencies, and water-related issues such as the Diamond Park water <br />matter where State monies were secured to transfer to agency.
