Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve the Appropriation Adjustment recognizing Orange County Real Estate Fraud Trust funds <br />of $18,000 into Police Special Revenue account (account no. 02414002-57400) and appropriate <br />same into the Police Special Revenue - General expenditure account (account no. 02414400 <br />61040) for the reimbursement of costs associated with investigating real estate fraud. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Pursuant to Government Code 27388, the Orange County Real Estate Fraud Trust Committee, in <br />conjunction with the Orange County District Attorney's Office was created to administer funds to <br />local cities to support their efforts to investigate real estate fraud crimes. Recently, the Santa Ana <br />Police Department was awarded $18,000 to fund salary and overtime costs of investigators <br />handling these cases. Under the terms of this award, the Police Department is required to <br />provide detailed accounting of all funds and provide statistics on the number of investigations and <br />arrests that resulted from the use of these funds. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Approval of the appropriation adjustment with the acceptance of these funds will increase the <br />City's Police Special Revenue Account (account #02414002-57400) in the amount of $18,000, <br />and will increase the same into the Police Special Revenue - General overtime expenditure <br />account (account no. 02414400 61040). <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />Carlos Rojas <br />Deputy Chief <br />Police Department <br />Francisco Gutierrez <br />Executive Director <br />Finance & Mgmt Services Agency <br />20A-1
