Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve the appropriation adjustment recognizing FY 2011/12 Supplemental Law Enforcement <br />Services Funds in the amount of $275,138.44 into the revenue account (account no 12814002- <br />52026) and appropriate same into the expenditure accounts (account nos.12814407-61040). <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California provides grant funding to state law enforcement agencies through the <br />Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). This program requires that funding be <br />allocated to counties and cities in accordance with specific requirements for front-line law <br />enforcement services. Front-line law enforcement typically includes community oriented policing <br />projects and special law enforcement activities that require use of additional police officers in <br />specially targeted saturation areas. <br />Total funding allocation is based on annual estimated population figures for respective counties and <br />cities. Based on Santa Ana's estimated population figures for 2011, the Police Department has <br />received a FY 2011/12 SLESF award of $275,138.44. This is the sixteenth year the Police <br />Department has received funding from the State of California through this program. <br />On September 6, 2011, Council approved the proposed expenditure plan for the FY 2011/12 SLESF. <br />The Police Department proposes to utilize this funding for enforcement activities including gang <br />suppression, cruiser enforcement, and career criminal apprehension. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Approval of the appropriation adjustment will increase revenues in the SLESF FY 2011/12 Year 16 <br />revenue account (account no. 12814002-52026) by $275,138.44 and increase the same into the <br />expenditure accounts (account nos.12814407-61040). <br />Carlos Rojas <br />Deputy Chief <br />Police Department <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />Francisco Gutierrez <br />Executive Director <br />Finance & Mgmt.
