Implementing Resolution <br />0 Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE <br />NUMBER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Award a contract to Joud Construction Company, Inc. the lowest responsible bidder, in <br />accordance with the bid quantity prices in the amount of $91,170 for construction of the <br />Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center Improvements. <br />2. Approve a funding analysis with a total estimated construction cost of $118,519. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) is the focal point of transportation in <br />Orange County with an overall estimated weekday visitor count of 2,995 a day. Built in 1985, <br />the SARTC's Spanish-style architecture is complemented by an outdoor courtyard and viewing <br />decks adjacent to the train platforms. Due to age, weather, and high usage the balusters of <br />the staircase and viewing deck along the south end of the courtyard have become deteriorated <br />and are in need of replacement. <br />Work includes the removal and replacement of the pre-cast concrete caps, bases, and <br />balustrades, forged steel handrails, and warning striping on stair treads. All work will bring the <br />stairway and deck balustrades in compliance with the 2010 California Building Code and <br />Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines. <br />Bids were opened on July 23, 2012.
