Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application in the amount of $200,000 to the <br />California State Parks Habitat Conservation Fund Program for the Outdoor Leadership Program. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Habitat Conservation Fund Program was established under the California Wildlife Protection <br />Act of 1990 and provides grant funds for the enhancement, restoration and interpretation of <br />riparian habitats throughout the State. Approximately $2 million will be available this funding cycle. <br />The grant application requires a 50-percent match of non-State money, which is available through <br />general fund in-kind services, which includes budgeted operating expenses for the Santiago Park <br />Nature Center. Applications are due on October 1, 2012. <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency proposes to submit an application for the <br />Outdoor Leadership Program. The program will educate and train teen volunteers to lead <br />interpretive tours for organized groups and individual park visitors at the Santiago Creek Wildlife <br />and Watershed Center and to lead outdoor educational programs and activities at Santiago Park <br />and other wilderness areas. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />Gerardo Mouet, <br />Executive Director <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency <br />55A-1
