Agreement with Clerk of the Council, Maria Huizar <br />September 17, 2012 <br />Page 2 <br />• City agrees to pay Clerk of the Council a base salary, commencing on the Effective Date, set at <br />Step 10 of EM-28, currently $10,596 per month, and thereafter adjusted upward three steps <br />annually upon approval of the City Council until top step reached. <br />• Clerk of the Council will receive all such other benefits that are applicable to executive managers <br />of the City as may be modified after the date of this Agreement. <br />• Clerk of the Council shall receive as additional compensation deferred compensation as allowed <br />by Government Code Section 53214 in the maximum annual amount permitted pursuant to <br />Section 457 of the Internal Revenue Code. <br />• City shall provide Clerk of the Council with the same car allowance accorded to unrepresented <br />executive management employees of the City, currently $500 per month. <br />• Clerk of the Council serves at the will and pleasure of the City Council. As required in Section 701 <br />of the Charter, the City Council may remove the Clerk of the Council by motion adopted by the <br />affirmative votes of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the members of the City Council. <br />• In the event this Agreement is terminated pursuant to any one of sections 9.2, 9.3 or 9.4 of this <br />Agreement, the Clerk of the Council shall receive a severance payment, in a lump sum, equal to <br />six (6) months of the Clerk of the Council's total monthly PERS reportable income, plus the value <br />of all City provided pension and medical benefits payable on the last day of employment. <br />The above provides a summary of the primary provisions of the Employment Agreement for the Clerk of <br />the Council.
