OC Children's Therapeutic Arts Center 2012 -13 Proposal Narrative for YSPN Membership <br />B. Program Description <br />1. Describe the program in its entirety from July 2012 -June 30, 2013. OCCTAC will provide all 10 WIA <br />elements of the program, including educational services, job training, paid work experience, adult mentoring, <br />literacy and math tutoring, career & clinical counseling, leadership opportunities, support services, as wells as <br />follow -up services. Please see below Table Y which shows the program timeline for one year. Table 2 (page 3) <br />describes job training programs and work experience at OCCTAC. Table 3 (page 4) describes the 3 state <br />certificate programs offered at OCCTAC for WIA participants, and Table 4 (page 5) describes the frequency of <br />program activities & OCCTAC staff interaction. Table 5 (page 6) describes other available programs at our <br />agency for WIA participants to engage in additional work experience and mentoring opportunities. <br />TABLE 1— Program Timeline from July 2012 — June 30, 2013 <br />Program Timeline <br />Program Activities & Training <br />Month 1 <br />• <br />Orientation of program and services with Case Manager <br />Objectives: <br />Employability /Job Skills assessment with Case manager <br />Program Overview, <br />. <br />Basic Skills /Academic levels assessment with Literacy and Numeracy tutor <br />Assessments, Participant <br />. <br />Career interest assessment and survey with Career Counselor <br />Goals <br />. <br />Determine Employment and Academic goals <br />Month 2 <br />• <br />Initiate bi- monthly meetings with Case Manager to discuss goals and service <br />Objectives: <br />needs of participants <br />Educational Guidance, <br />0 <br />Initiate weekly tutoring of Literacy and /or Numeracy skills <br />Tutoring & Vocational <br />. <br />Initiate weekly short -term vocational training courses <br />Training <br />. <br />Initiate social support group with other WIA participants and staff <br />• <br />Participants to receive monthly stipend <br />Months 3 -8 <br />• <br />Initiate paid work experience —(Pay per hour) <br />Objectives: <br />• <br />Initiate monthly Job /Life skills training or Leadership Groups <br />Job Training & Work <br />. <br />Continue bi- monthly meetings with case manager to discuss progress <br />Experience <br />. <br />Continue monthly meetings with Career counselor for academic guidance <br />• <br />Continue weekly Literacy and /or Numeracy tutoring <br />• <br />Continue monthly support group with other WIA participants and staff <br />• <br />Invite guest speakers for special workshops (every other month) <br />Month 9 -12 <br />• <br />Continue bi- monthly meetings with case manager to discuss program goals, <br />Objectives: <br />and for intense employability skills and job search training <br />Employability /Job Skills & <br />. <br />Continue tutoring, if necessary <br />Job Search <br />a <br />Continue monthly life skills training <br />• <br />Continue monthly support group with other WIA participants and staff <br />2. Indicate the number of youth that will be served. <br />OCCTAC will serve 25 out -of- school youth, with and without disabilities from the City of Santa Ana. <br />3. Indicate which WIA population will receive the service. OCCTAC will serve out -of- school youth (ages <br />17 -21) with and without disabilities of very limited resources from the City of Santa Ana. <br />4. Indicate the age group that will be served. OCCTAC will serve 25 out -of- school youth (ages 17 -21) with <br />and without disabilities of very limited resources from the City of Santa Ana. <br />5. Describe the recruitment plan. Indicate how the program will attract and interest youth. <br />OCCTAC has a good reputation in the community and many WIA participants recommend the program to their <br />friends or relatives. Every year, OCCTAC attracts new participants through "word of mouth" from previous <br />participants and community members! Also, our innovative programs are of high interest to youth in the <br />community. Year after year OCCTAC continues to grow and expand the level of services to WIA participants. <br />We are most proud of our 3 state certificate programs that will benefit tremendously the Santa Ana transitional <br />age youth population. Furthermore, OCCTAC has great community partners, including the Santa Ana Work <br />Center, the Santa Ana College, the SAUSD Transitional Partnership Program, and others! <br />Exhibit A <br />
