ATTACHMENT A 2012-DJ-BX-0057 <br />City: Newport Beach <br />The City of Newport Beach proposes to use the 2012 Justice Assistance Grant funding as follows: <br />Purpose Areas: <br />Prevention and Education <br />Program Narrative: <br />Maintaining the high level of crime prevention that resulted from the establishment of a Crime Prevention <br />Program under the LLEBG program (now JAG). <br />The Newport Beach Police Department has seen a steady rise in burglary from motor vehicles crimes. <br />The Department is utilizing several crime prevention campaigns to educate community members on how <br />to avoid becoming a burglary from motor vehicle victim. This includes our TLC, Take your valuables, <br />Lock your car, and Close your Windows community outreach program. . <br />Goals of the Proiect: <br />The goal of the program is to maintain a highly visible program dedicated to <br />1) Preventing Crime, 2) Disseminating correct and realistic information about criminal activity and crime <br />prevention, and 3) Enhancing the perception of security within the community. <br />Strategies to be used for Project: <br />Conduct Neighborhood watch meetings, crime prevention meetings, and the distribution of community <br />crime alert bulletins to keep the community informed of current crime trends in an effort to better prepare <br />the community to take crime prevention measures. Utilization of evolving social media mediums to <br />deliver the Department's crime prevention messages. <br />Proiect identifiers: See JAG Identifiers (attached) <br />Newport Beach Police Department identifies this project as Crime Prevention. <br />Budget and Budget Narrative: <br />The funds from this grant will off-set the annual salary and benefits of our full-time Crime Prevention <br />Specialist ($109,712). <br />Timeline and/or Proiect Plan: Identify when the goals and objectives will be completed <br />This Crime Prevention Specialist position will be continually funded throughout the life of the grant. <br />Funding: <br />Total Allocation: $10,048 <br />PROACT Contribution: $1,005 <br />Administrative Fee (9%): $904 <br />Funds Retained by City: $8,139 <br />2012-DJ-13X-2532 20"-29 Page 22 of 30
