City Council discussion ensued. Mayor Pulido noted that "Little Saigon" <br />began in the City of Santa Ana and such resolution should have been <br />adopted 10 years ago. Mayor Pulido motioned to direct staff to draft a <br />resolution in support of human rights and in opposition of communism. <br />Motion seconded by Mayor Pro Tern Alvarez. Council unanimously <br />agreed to support freedom and stand up against injustice. <br />Friendly amendment proposed by Councilmember Sarmiento, accepted by <br />Mayor Pulido. <br />MOTION: Establish an Ad Hoc Committee to consider incorporating <br />all human rights violations and direct staff to prepare a resolution. <br />MOTION: Pulido SECOND: Alvarez <br />VOTE: AYES: Alvarez, Benavides, Bustamante, <br />Martinez, Pulido, Sarmiento, Tinajero (7) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSTAIN: None (0) <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br />CITY COUNCIL RECESSED AT 8:17 P.M.
