We unders#and that the
number of calls-#or-service has increased in the past year and as a result the District
now has an "above-average" number of calls. As a result of this increase, we
understand that Staff has changed its recommendation to denial, as a matter of policy.
Walmart shares the City's concern about the efficient use of City resources and has
taken proactive steps to reduce theft from the store and will continue to identify new
measures aimed at decreasing theft to reduce calls for service and save Police
resources.
Outlined below is a summary of the operational changes at the Store and security
measures in place to prevent theft. Walmart has established these systems to monitor
and defer crime, so that the sale of liquor, pursuant to CUP 2012-05, will not further
increase calls for service fo the store and the Crime Reporting District.
