Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Make appointments to regional boards for positions held by outgoing councilmembers Claudia <br />Alvarez and Carlos Bustamante, and any other appointment changes necessary. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Mayor and City Council represent the City's interest in regional issues by serving on a <br />number of regional boards which make public policy decisions in the areas of transportation, <br />water resources, fire services, and government facilities. <br />The positions held by outgoing Councilmembers Alvarez and Bustamante are: <br />Orange County Water District representative <br />Newport Bay Watershed Executive Committee representative <br />Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) Foothill/Eastern alternate <br />Transportation System Improvement Authorities - Orange alternate <br />Transportation System Improvement Authorities - Tustin alternate <br />The City Council may make additional changes to appointees, at their discretion. Exhibit 1 <br />attached is a list of current representatives. For discussion purposes, the following is a list of <br />regional boards and appointing authority. <br />¦ Metropolitan Water District* <br />A board member is appointed by the majority of the City Council (member does not have to <br />be elected official). <br />¦ Newport Bay Watershed Executive Committee* <br />A board member and alternate is appointed by the majority of the City Council. <br />65A-1
