INSURANCE NOT ON FILE <br />g g 0" MAl PROCEED <br />CLERK DF C U N C I L <br />DATE: -?- t <br />Contract No. <br />AGREEMENT UNDER THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT <br />A-2012-015 <br />THIS AGREEMENT, dated for reference purposes, February 6, 2012, by and between <br />the City of Santa Ana, a charter city and municipal corporation duly organized and existing under the <br />Constitution and laws of the State of California ("CITY") and The Regents of the University of <br />California on behalf of its Irvine campus ("CONTRACTOR"). <br />W-I-T-N-E-S-S-E-T-H <br />Recitals: <br />A. CITY has been designated a Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) under <br />the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, Public Law 105-220 ("the Act"). <br />B. The State of California has created the LWIA to administer the Act programs <br />operated by the State of California pursuant to the Act. <br />C. As a LWIA, CITY is entitled to receive federal funds to establish programs to <br />increase training opportunities for unemployed individuals. One goal of California's Workforce <br />Investment System is to provide the opportunities to find, retain, or advance their employment. <br />D. CONTRACTOR is experienced in operating education, occupational <br />development and employment programs for economically disadvantaged youths for entry into the labor <br />market ("said program"). <br />E. CONTRACTOR is willing to operate said program pursuant to the Act and <br />California law. <br />WHEREFORE, for and in consideration of the respective and mutual covenants and <br />promises hereinafter contained and made, and subject to all the terms and conditions hereof, the parties <br />hereto do hereby agree as follows: <br />1. <br />CONTRACTOR'S OBLIGATIONS <br />A. CONTRACTOR agrees to provide academic counseling, mentoring, career <br />exploration, development of On The Job Training opportunities, and collaborate in curriculum <br />development for the H-IB Technical Skills Training Grant: Orange County Bridge to Engineering with <br />the City of Santa Ana Workforce Investment Area, in addition to the activities outlined in Scope of <br />Work (Exhibit A) which includes the Letter of Commitment from the H-113 application to the <br />Department of Labor, and activities outlined in Budget Narrative (Exhibit E). CONTRACTOR'S <br />failure to provide said services in accordance with Exhibit A may be grounds for CITY to readjust the <br />level of payment to CONTRACTOR otherwise provided for hereinafter. <br />Page 1 of 13
