UC Irvine Budget Narrative <br />Orange County Bridge to Engineering Project <br />Salaries: $83,914 <br />Professor Tang and Dr, Reyes-Tuccio will collaborate on overall direction of the program <br />components at UCI, collaborate with Mr. de la Riva at the City of Santa Ana, collaborate with project <br />participants from the other institutions involved in the training program. See technical proposal <br />submitted by City of Santa Ana for more details. Salary costs are based on named persons' actual <br />pay rates, on UCI's published salary scales for to-be-named persons, and are escalated 2% per year <br />for cost of living adjustments, and 5% for merit increases when applicable, <br />Fringe Benefits: $22,743 <br />Salary-based Benefits: Benefits rates are as stated in the detailed budget for the applicable budget <br />periods, using actual rates for named personnel, and composite rates for to-be-named personnel, <br />Henry Samueli School of Engineering Faculty Instructional Design Stipend: UCI engineering <br />faculty member to serve on instructional design team, help develop RapidTech summer institute <br />curriculum and work on articulation between community colleges and UCI. $20,000 in Year 1, <br />$10,000/year in Years 2-4 for a total of $50,000. <br />Travel: $0 <br />Materials & Supplies: $16,848 <br />Costs are estimates of materials and supplies needed to support the outreach activities of the SAGE <br />Program and the summer institutes. <br />SAGE Scholars Program: Staff time and outreach costs to recruit existing engineering students, <br />particularly women and/or students from underrepresented minority populations for long-term <br />internships/OJTs in Years 1 and 2, and to find internships/OJTs for OC 132E UCI transfers in Years 3 <br />and 4. Also instructional time for workplace readiness/business culture class, outreach, and <br />recruiting costs = $20,000 in Year 1, $25,000 in Year 2, $35,000 in Year 3, $54,000 in Year 4 (when <br />2 cohorts' worth of transfers will be coming into UCI) for a total of $134,000. <br />Summer Scholars Transfer Institute: Per student cost for existing CC engineering students to <br />attend a residential UCI Summer Scholar Transfer Institute, earn UCI credits, and learn more about <br />transferring to UCI. $1,000 per student x 5 students in Year 1, S students in Year 2, 10 students in <br />Year 3, and 22 students in Year 4, plus $500 in materials costs, $5,000 in Years 1 and 2, $10,000 in <br />Year 3 and $22,500 in Year 4 for a total of $42,500. <br />Facilities And Administrative Costs: $60,495 <br />Indirect costs are calculated at 46% of Modified Total Direct Cost based on UCI's indirect cost rate <br />agreement with DHHS dated 04/27/11 1 <br />EXHIBIT E
