Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize submittal of the General Plan Housing Element Annual Progress Report to the State of <br />California Housing and Community Development (HCD). <br />DISCUSSION <br />The General Plan Housing Element is a comprehensive planning document designed to address <br />current and future housing needs for Santa Ana and surrounding region. The document includes <br />the City's housing vision to meet community needs through 2014. The housing vision is expressed <br />in the goals, policies and implementation programs as stated in the Housing Element. The <br />purpose of the Housing Element Annual Progress Report (Exhibit 1) is to describe the activities <br />and accomplishments made in 2012 to implement the City's housing vision. In particular, the <br />report includes a summary of Santa Ana's progress in meeting its share of the Regional Housing <br />Needs Allocation (RHNA).
