HRD No. 2012-01 <br />January 24, 2013 <br />Page 2 <br />Analysis of the Issues <br />Whenever an application to demolish a historic property is filed, Section 30-T requires the HRC to <br />investigate all feasible alternatives to demolition, which include, but are not limited to: <br />1) Seeking private citizens, local trusts, and other financial sources who may be willing to purchase <br />the structure for relocation or restoration; <br />2) Publicizing the availability of the structure for purchase for restoration or relocation purposes; <br />3) Exploring possible sites for relocation of the historic building if on-site preservation is not possible; <br />and, <br />4) Suggesting to the City Council that the city purchase the structure when private preservation or <br />relocation is not feasible. <br />The following provides a summary of the actions taken to date as a result of the HRC's direction and <br />helpful suggestions from the community. <br />Section 30-7 1 Seekin rivate citizens local trusts and other financial sources that ma be <br />willin to urchase the structure for relocation or restoration. <br />The intent of Section 307(1) is to find alternate funding sources in an attempt to preserve the <br />Sexlinger Farmhouse and Orchard site. As a result, upon receipt of the intent to demolish the <br />structure and with the input of the Ad Hoc Committee and community input, staff identified <br />numerous organizations and funding sources that may be willing to purchase the structure for <br />restoration or relocation.
