The Mission Revival <br />vocabulary, pol}filar between 1890 and 1920, drew its inspiration from the missions ofthe Sor~tlswest. Identifying features include <br />curved parapets (or espada~'l~); red tiled roofs and coping; low-pitched roofs, often with overhanging eaves; parch roofs supported by <br />large, square piers; arches; and wall surfaces commonly covered in smooth stucco. The Spanish Colo~~ial Revival flourished behveen <br />1915 and 1944, reaching its apex during the 1920s and 1930s. 'T'he movement received widespread attention after the Panama- <br />Cafifornia Exposition in San Diego in 1915, where lavish interpretations of Spanish and Mexican prototypes were showcased. Easily <br />recognizable hallmarks of the Spansh} Colonial Revival are low-pitched roofs, usually with little or no overhangs and red file roof <br />coverings, flat roofs surrounded by tiled parapets; and stuccoed walls. The Spanish vocabulary also includes arches; asyimnetry; <br />balconies and patios; window grilles; and decorative elements of woad, wrought iron, tile, or stone. <br />SUMMARY/CONCLUSION: <br />The Emison-Georgieff House I~as been determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places as a cantributor to a <br />North Broadway Park historic district that is bounded by Riverside Drive, Santa Clara Avenue, North Broadway, and North Flower <br />Street. Under the regulations implementing the California Register of Historical Resources, the EZnison-Georgieff House has been <br />listed in the California Register. It also qualiEes for listing in the Santa Ana Register of Historical Property under Criteriaji 1 for its <br />exemplification of the "distinguishing characteristics" of the Spanish Colonial Revival style. The house also contributes to the <br />historic character of the Floral Park neighborhood through its age, style, scale, and Historic association with important members of the <br />local business and professional cannnunities.
