EXEMPT FROM FEES PURSUANT <br />TO GOVERNMENT CODE § 6103 <br />ROH - 04/05/12 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012-~;XX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2012-01 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />1584 EAST SANTA CLARA AVENUE, SANTA ANA, ON <br />THE HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING <br />HISTORIC REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2012-01 <br />PLACING SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY <br />CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On April 5, 2012, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2012-01) and <br />categorization (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2012- <br />01) of the Sexlinger Property, located at 1584 East Santa Clara Avenue, <br />Santa Ana. <br />B. The Sexlinger Property is rectangular in shape, approximately five acres in <br />size, and includes a 1,350 square foot Craftsman-style farmhouse and a <br />Valencia orange grove of approximately 250 trees. The residence was <br />constructed in 1914 by Perry V. Grout, but was sold shortly thereafter to <br />George and Sophia Sexlinger. Members of the Sexlinger family resided in <br />the home until 2006. <br />C. The Sexlinger Property qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties and is eligible for categorization as "Key" because it <br />meets the minimum selection criteria of being 50 years or older and further <br />meets the criteria listed under 30-2, Criterion 6, pertaining to buildings or <br />structures that were connected with a business or use which was once <br />common, but is now rare. The Sexlinger Property is the last intact orange <br />grove in Santa Ana remaining from the period of time when orange <br />growing was the predominant business and land use in this area. <br />D. The Sexlinger Property shall be listed in the "Key" category based on its <br />compliance with Section 30-2.2(2)(b) which pertains to buildings, <br />structures, objects or sites that are characteristic of a significant period in <br />Resolution No. 2012-XXX <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
