<br />COMPANY, a corporation of Baltimore, Maryland, duly authorised to trammot
<br />a general surety 'business in the State of California, as Surety, are held
<br />and firmly 'bound unto the CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFOTWIA, and to any and all
<br />persons who may legally establish damages sustained as hereinafter not forth,
<br />in the penal sun of Teal Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($10,000.00), lawful
<br />money of the United States of America, for which payment, well and truly to
<br />be made we bind ourselves, our successors and assigns, jointly and severally,
<br />firmly by these presents.

<br />The condition of the foregoing obligation is such that whereas by its
<br />Ordinance No. 678 passed April 3, 1922, the City of Santa Ana granted to Pacific
<br />Electric Lead Company a franchise to operate automobile busses within said
<br />City Limits;
<br />And whereas said Orddinaanae provides alternatively that, as a oondition
<br />precedent to operation wider said franchise, a general bond may be given in the
<br />sun of Tea Thousand azd 00/100 Dollars ($10,000000) applicable to each of all
<br />automobile busses so. operated and conditioned for the payment of damages to any
<br />and all persons who as passengers on said busses may be injured or danaged
<br />throu& or on account of the wrongful act, fault or neglect of the holder of
<br />the franchise or persons operating say such automobile bus, or of their agents,
<br />servants or employees, or to the heirs of any person who may be killed through
<br />any such wrongful act, fault or negligemae;
<br />Now, Therefore, if said Paoifle Electric _ Land Oompany shall pay all such
<br />damages so sustained as may be legally established, then this obligation shall
<br />be void; otherwise to be and resaia in full foroe and virtue.
<br />Provided that the fall sun of this bond shall apply to cover each and every
<br />automobile bas so operated by Pacific Electric Land Company irrespective of the
<br />umber of such basses, except that the, total liability of the Principal and
<br />Surety har eider shall in no case exceed the sum of Ten Thousand and 00/100
<br />Dollars ( #10,000000) 0
<br />It is farther distinctly understood and agreed that this bond shall
<br />cover a period of twelve months from the date of the license granted under the
<br />provisions of said Ordinance and that this bond may be continued from year to
<br />year by a contimaatiia certificate, duly executed by the surety hereunder,
<br />and when so continued the total liability of the Surety shall be, in all re-
<br />spects, the same as if this bond had been originally written to include the
<br />period or periods for ahioh it shall have been continued.
<br />It is firrther distinctly understood and agreed that this bond and
<br />its continuation certificate or certificates, if any, may be cancelled at any
<br />time by the Surety, upon giving thirty days written notice to the then City
<br />Clerk of the City of Santa Ana, State of California, in ah. ich event the lia-
<br />bility of the Surety shall at fire expiration of said thirty days oease and
<br />determine, except as to such liability of the Principal herein prior to the
<br />expiration of said thirty days, it being expressly understood that the
<br />surety shall be 11,41619 within the penal gam mentioned herein for d�►�fauit
