(2) Newly planted trees, shrubs, ground cover and turf shall receive <br />adequate water to promote normal healthy growth. Proper berms or <br />basins shall be maintained during plant establishment period. <br />b) Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br />Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required, the <br />Contractor shall: <br />(1) Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Parks, Recreation <br />and Community Services Agency for access and operation of the <br />controller. <br />(2) Surrender all keys furnished by the Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Agency at the end of the contract period or at <br />any time deemed necessary by the Director to prevent serious loss to <br />the City of Santa Ana. <br />(3) Protect the security of City property by keeping controller cabinet <br />and building doors locked at all times. <br />(4) Refrain from using locked premises for storage of materials, supplies <br />or tools, except as approved by the Director. <br />(5) Program normal irrigation between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 <br />a.m. unless alternative hours are approved by City. <br />c) Water Conservation <br />(1) The Contractors Certified Irrigation Specialist shall meet once a <br />month with Park Services to review the City's Monthly Water <br />Conservation Report to discuss water conservation strategies. These <br />discussions may include, but not be limited to, the Contractor turning <br />off irrigation systems during periods of rainfall and times when <br />suspension of irrigation is desirable to conserve water while <br />remaining within the guidelines of the EAW. <br />(2) When Park Services determines that plant material (turf, <br />groundcover, shrubs, and trees) must be irrigated, all controllers <br />shall be activated within twenty-four (24) hours. <br />d) Inspection and Resorting <br />(1) The Contractor shall physically inspect the operation of all irrigation <br />systems once a month and prepare a written report specifying park <br />name, controller location/name, start times, run times, program <br />25A-30
