Associate Planner Hally Soboleske presented the staff report and <br />recommendation noting the property owner is requesting to be removed from <br />register, provided the history of the property, and alterations made to the exterior <br />of the property. <br />Written communication received from Diane Dunn in support of removing the <br />property from the register; Toni Kimball of the Santa Ana Historical Preservation <br />' Society, Barbara Warnock, Leslie Kato, David Rance, Anne Etheridge and Mike <br />Albanese in opposition to the removal of the property from the register. <br />The public hearing was opened and the following speakers addressed the <br />Commission on the matter: <br />James Gartner spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Dianne Dunn spoke in support of removing the property from the register. <br />• Maxine Schmidt, representing the Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society, <br />spoke in opposition to the removal of the property form the register. <br />• George Herlihy spoke in opposition to the removal of the property form the <br />register. <br />• Leslie Kato spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Ellen Koldewey spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Molly Doughty spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Janelle McLoughlin spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from <br />' the register. <br />• Mark McLoughlin spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Sonja Melching spoke in support of removing the property from the register. <br />• Angel Barnes spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Kim Sinclair spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Linda Nelessen spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />• Quan Dinh spoke in support of removing the property from the register noting <br />the condition of the home. <br />• Quynh Kieu, property owner, spoke in support of removing the property from <br />the register noting respect for the history of the home adding she is ready to <br />maintain the look of the home, noted the difficulties of the living conditions <br />adding the house is cold and has mold, commented on the problems with the <br />roof and the high cost to replace the steel windows and for the upkeep of the <br />exterior, noted she is willing to work with the Commission, but should be <br />given options. <br />• Ricki Older spoke in opposition to the removal of the property from the <br />register. <br />The Public Hearing closed at 6:37 p.m. <br />Commissioner Mill inquired if there are tax benefits for properties listed on the <br />register and if so, did the property owners take advantage of this benefit. Ms. <br />Soboleske noted there is a potential to save from the property taxes with the Mills <br />Historic Resources Commission Minutes 3 April 25, 2013 <br />
