Educational /foundational: tutoring and study - skills development, high school <br />diploma /GED completion, vocational /occupational skills training and career <br />development; <br />• Guidance: Counseling, drug /alcohol prevention, leadership /community <br />development; <br />Employment: year round work opportunities, paid and unpaid internships and job <br />shadowing. <br />The SAYSPN has met or exceeded the standards set for youth by the state. For example, <br />• In the 16 -18 age range 100% of program participants received diplomas, 98% were <br />retained in school, college, or jobs, and 85% completed their skill attainment goals; <br />• For youth 19 -21, 83% of participants landed jobs, 88% acquired credentials, and 84% <br />stayed employed when measured nine months after exiting the program. <br />Career Technical Education Orange County and the Regional Consortium of Rancho <br />Santiago Community College (Santa Ana) and Santiago Canyon College (Orange). <br />Although the focus of this regional facility is broader than just youth, its focus is on <br />increasing the number of career pathways and post - secondary education opportunities <br />for students. Any conversation about youth education and training must include it. An <br />important regional resource, CTEoc is located at Rancho Santiago Community College. <br />CTEoc is the result of braiding funding. Nine area community colleges, four Regional <br />Occupational Programs (ROP), plus 13 school districts have made it a sustainable and <br />impactful institution. CTEoc acts as a "go to" one -stop resource. Its Website tracks <br />relevant region -wide events, announces available and new educational and training <br />courses, and gathers and distributes regional data about vocational educational <br />opportunity. CTEoc also has established regional Professional Learning Communities, <br />implemented the State's Common Core Standards, and integrated industry information <br />through advisory boards featuring the region's leading business leaders. <br />For example, a recent search for available vocational training courses turned up 21 <br />currently available programs in media, cabinetmaking /woodworking, a range of <br />therapeutic services, pharmacy, all elements of culinary arts, and fabrication <br />engineering. In each case it indicated the career pathway, the district, the instructor, <br />and location. It also listed Professional Learning Communities in business, construction, <br />culinary arts, digital media, performance arts, engineering, fashion, and automotive <br />fields. <br />• Vital Link. Closely associated with CTEoc has been the Vital Link program. It provides <br />videos, exhibits, courseware, and hands -on mentorship to link business and educational <br />needs. Its videos and visitation /apprenticeship programs cover a number of the key <br />areas of skill -based careers, from product development through electronics and <br />software, to green /clean technologies, and even high level medical practices. <br />High School Inc. High School Inc. (HSI) functions as a separate academy within Valley <br />High School. HSI provides workshops in specific employment skills, such as those listed <br />48 <br />19F -56 <br />
